It is funny how politicians are compared to reptiles and amphibians. Due to the infamous Perak debacle, some have been called frogs when they had no qualms about resigning from their political parties to become independent lawmakers. So deep is the fixation of a greener pasture on the other side that more frogs leapt into action. I was also quite swept away with this trend and wrote many satirical stories on frogs :-) such as The Frog and the Genie, The Hopping Frogs and the Princess and The Frog that Met His Lady.
Like in the animal kingdom, political frogs come in all shapes, sizes and gender with varying degrees of loudness in the way they croak. I am sure you can think of ONE BOSSY FROG who makes a lot of demands, even to the most powerful man in this country. Wow! That is one cantankerous frog indeed!
And today, we are told that we have chameleons in our midst! The Malaysian Insider carried a report HERE where Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin continued his attacks against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today, calling him a "chameleon extraordinaire" for apparently apologising for a recent Pakatan Rakyat (PR) anti-Zionist protest outside the US embassy here. Why must there be so many instances of name-calling? Again, I am concerned about the example that some are setting to the younger set.
Well, apart from frogs and chameleons, snakes have also surfaced in the arena so to speak, hissing away for all to know their presence. Symbolically, the snake/serpent is one of the oldest and most widespread mythological symbols, some which are positive and some which are negative.
According to Wikipedia HERE:
In the Abrahamic religions, serpents are connected with deceit, and are used to symbolize deceitfulness. An example is the serpent in the Garden of Eden, who tricks Adam and Eve into partaking of the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.Does it not surprise you then that some frogs are also snakes in the things they say? I am sure you know who I am talking about. Allegation after allegation...*yawn* and he forgets that he spent some time in US too telling tales! I oft wonder how and why anyone could have the courage to make such statements in the light of their own 'history'. But then again, we are talking about snake-like frogs unlike some frogs who are hiding under the tempurung shell - from guilt or enjoying their lifestyle?
Only God knows!
Life can be unpredictable. Malaysia Boleh. Snakes can morph into frogs which could then be eaten by snakes!
On a lighter note to escape from all the political madness raging around, unwind with THIS RENDITION of Karma Chameleon by Culture Club. Take care and have a lovely evening!

We continue our way, after a short break at Jason Bay, Sedili, Johor, we drive towards Kota Tinggi through the coastal road. Very rarely we encounter cars from the opposite direction. I don't think I would want to drive here at night..... very creepy and quiet without any settlements.
And I was a bit worried as my petrol is diminishing fast....
Anyway while at it, we still enjoy the sceneries.... (Taken by my children while I'm driving)

To be continued...
Next: Telok Sengat, Kota Tinggi

More than 3,000 illegal immigrants were roped in during a recent integrated operation and are waiting for deportation.
State Special Task Force director Datuk Misri Barham told New Sabah Times when contacted yesterday that they were detained at the latest three-day massive operation mounted in Kota Kinabalu from 24 until June 26.
Operations to trace and arrest illegal immigrants including those in possession of dubious documents are being carried out in all districts in Sabah at least twice a month.
The integrated exercise was conducted with 25 government departments and among them were the police, Federal Special Task Force, Immigration Department, National Registration Department (NRD), Civil Defence Department, Chief Minister's Department and Public Welfare Department.
Misri said as of June 28, there were 3,683 immigrants detained in four temporary detention centers (TDC) waiting deportation. They consist of 2,727 Filipinos, 923 Indonesians and others 33.
"We have 1,689 detained in Tawau, 1,487 in Papar, 409 in Sandakan and 98 in Kota Belud," he said adding that each centre has a capacity to hold 10,000 detainees at any one time.
Misri said they will be able to detain more illegal immigrants after the centre in Menggatal has completed renovation work.
He reminded employers especially those involved in construction and plantation not to harbor illegal immigrants to avoid legal action being taken against them.

I read this piece of news in The Star today… it's pretty serious (as in it's not a laughing matter)…
AN 18-year-old girl ran half-naked for 1km to escape 10 men who tried to rape her in an oil palm estate in Gerik, Perak, reported Harian Metro
The girl and her boyfriend had earlier gone on a date and had entered the estate to have sex.
While they were resting after their tryst, 10 men approached the couple and tried to rape the girl, said a source.
The source said the victim managed to put on her pants and grab her handphone before fleeing. After running for about 1km, she called the police.
The police showed up and rescued her from the men. She later lodged a police report before being taken to Hospital Gerik.
Big question. What happened to the boyfriend?
1. Was he part of the plot?

Here's a list of crazy laws that a friend sent to me recently. At the rate ridiculous things happen in our country, would it be a surprise if any of these laws were passed in our country?
Penal Code 6260, California State Vehicle Act, Chapter XVIII, Paragraph 187, reads:
It is a misdemeanor to shoot any kind of game bird or mammal--except a whale, from an automobile or an airplane.
Ordinance No. 16 of Columbus, Mont. provides that;
Any person who shall not lift his hat to the Mayor as he passes him in the street, will be guilty of a misdemeanor.
Boys are prohibited from throwing snowballs at trees within the city limits of Mt. Pulaski, Ill., according to Section 37 of the Revised Ordinances of that city.
All Wisconsin boarding houses clubs, hotels and restaurants must serve with every meal sold at twenty-five cents or more, not less than two-thirds of an ounce of cheese.
Connecticut General Statutes provides for the punishment by fine or imprisonment for the "Enticing of a neighbor's bees".
The Revised Statutes of Kansas, 1923, state: It shall be unlawful for any person to exhibit in a public way within the State of Kansas, any sort of exhibition that consists of the eating or pretending to eat of snakes, lizards, scorpions, centipedes, tarantulas, or other reptiles.
The State Housing Act of California, Sec. 74 reads: No horse, cow, calf, swine, sheep, goat, mule, or other animal, chicken, pigeon, goose, duck, or other poultry shall be kept in any apartment house or hotel or any part thereof.
In Alderson W.Va, an ordinance states: No lions shall be allowed to run wild on the streets of this city.
This is the law in Kansas: When two trains approach each other at a crossing, they shall both come to a complete stop, and neither shall start up until the other has gone.
In 1907, Michigan passed a law which reads: An act to provide for the lawful taking of suckers, mullet, dogfish, and lawyers from the Sturgeon River.

The Coalition of Good Governance (CGG) in a statement today urged the Selangor state government to involve civil society in its appointment of state councillors.
In the statement by CGG chairman Jeffrey Phang, he said the NGO was concerned that certain NGOs and professional councillors would again be left off the list.
The state had previously designated a 25 percent quota of
